They hold for every connected client the same way. one AI access switch per folder closes it to agents and Mo at once, the five tool categories switch off one by one, and every write is logged with its actor.

Per folder, per note

Four flags per folder

Visible, create, update, delete. A hidden folder is invisible to MCP and to Mo: not in search, not in tool calls, not in listings. Reference folders get visible only, so agents search and quote but never rewrite. Working folders: all four.

Per-note overrides

A folder rule covers most cases; a single sensitive note can opt out on its own with three flags: visible / update / delete.

Tool categories

Under the master switch: Read, Create, Update, Delete, Workflows. Turn Delete off and no connected app can delete anything, whatever the folder says.

Tool categories

Under the master switch the MCP tools sit in five categories: Read, Create, Update, Delete, Workflows. Switch Delete off and no connected client can delete anything, whatever the folder allows. Switch Workflows off and agents can use the board but never change an Auto-code workflow.

Categories apply to every client at once; folder and note flags refine them.

In detail

Hidden means hidden
A folder hidden from AI is invisible to every client and to Mo: not in search, not in listings, not in tool calls, not in the index. Archived notes are hidden from MCP too.
Mo stays out of the folders you close
Turn off AI access in a folder’s settings and the folder is hidden from your agents and from Mo: it is not indexed, and it never appears in a cited answer or a work packet. The workspace setting “Index folders by default” decides where indexing starts.
Actors, not just "AI"
Every write records who did it: mcp:claude-code, mcp:codex, morion-concierge (Mo), or you. The activity feed on every note shows it in order.
Auto-code runs inside the rules
A workflow node talks to the notebook through the same tools and the same permissions as any client.
Local only
MCP over stdio on your machine. No HTTP endpoint, no cloud relay, nothing to expose.

What it is not

Not a sandbox for your code
These permissions cover the notebook. What an agent may do in your repo is set in the agent itself.
Not per agent
A folder or note flag holds for every connected client at once. To keep something from agents, hide it from all of them.
