Morion is a desktop app with a notebook and a task board that any MCP client works on. Mo indexes the notes and answers with the source note and a status on every claim; an agent that claims a ticket gets a work packet with everything related to it; Auto-code runs a ticket through a workflow of agents from different vendors, with a gate that asks you in chat when the agent has a question.
Hermes Agent, from Nous Research, is an open-source assistant that runs all the time, reaches you in chat apps and, since May, has its own Kanban for Hermes profiles. It is strong as a coordinator. It is not a place where a project’s knowledge lives, and its board is closed to agents it did not start.
2What Morion adds
- A board every agent can claim from. On the Hermes Kanban only Hermes profiles take cards; Claude Code or Codex join only when Hermes starts them. In Morion, Claude Code in your terminal, Codex, Cursor and Hermes claim tickets directly, and a claim is atomic.
- A notebook, not two small files. Hermes keeps what it knows about you in two small files, about 3,500 characters together, plus a search over past sessions. Morion keeps the project: specs, decisions, tickets and their comments, indexed into projects and topics.
- Answers you can check. Mo answers with the note each claim came from and whether it is decided, provisional or superseded, and says when notes conflict or nothing covers the question.
- A work packet per ticket. A Hermes card carries its comments and the results of the cards before it. A Morion ticket carries the related notes, decisions and tasks from across the project.
- Permissions per folder and per note. Decide what agents can see, create, change or delete, folder by folder and note by note. Hermes gates commands and tools per profile, not your data.
- A reviewed loop across vendors. Auto-code runs one agent writing and another reviewing; a human_gate asks you in chat when the agent has a question, and a failed run lands in Re-opened with the reason.

Hermes picks a model per card and has review and blocked-for-input states, but no workflow graph across vendors. Hermes can run on a Codex login, not on a Claude subscription. Hermes Agent costs nothing to run yourself; Nous Portal model plans and the Business and Enterprise tiers announced on 14 September 2026 are paid. Morion has a Free plan; Pro and Max are on the pricing page. For Morion, 2.0 has a Free plan and is not open source; the earlier 1.5 line, Morion Community, is open source and free but frozen.
4One board for every agent
If Hermes is already your coordinator, keep it and connect it to Morion like any other MCP client. Hermes takes the request from your phone and turns it into tickets; Claude Code and Codex claim them from their own terminals or through Auto-code, each with a work packet; Morion keeps the notes, the board and the history, and stops a run when it needs you.

5Which one fits you
if you want an assistant that runs all the time, answers in your chat apps and runs scheduled jobs, and one agent family is enough.
if the work is a software project and Claude Code, Codex or Cursor should share one board and one notebook, with answers you can check.
if Hermes is already your coordinator: it connects to Morion like any MCP client, and your coding agents claim the tickets it creates.

The Hermes Kanban is worked by Hermes profiles. Morion’s board is open to any MCP client, so Claude Code, Codex and Cursor claim tickets from their own terminals, and every ticket comes with the related notes and decisions.
Only as a worker Hermes starts. Hermes can run Claude Code or Codex for a card, but the board is not exposed over MCP for an outside agent to claim from.
